Today I met Bernie and Roger for the first time, Bernie is the lady responsible for setting up 9 Lives Lanzarote, and I told her that I want to become a volunteer. She is totally dedicated to helping the wild and abandoned cats and kittens on the island have a good quality of life. There is a terrible burden on cats living in the wild on this island, they can produce at least 2-8 kittens per litter, and 2-3 litters per year; that means one female cat could have more than 100 kittens in her life! A single pair of cats and their kittens can produce as many as 420,000 kittens in just 7 years. So this annual program can help alleviate that terrible burden. All the cats born in the wild risk abandonment, starvation, dying of AIDS or contracting feline leukemia.

Bernie has invited me to help out on 12th November, by doing the admin and logging the animals as they come in for treatment. I will keep everyone posted on the site Blog so you can see what is happening and how many cats are helped on this initiative. Don’t forget, if you can help with donations or volunteering, Bernie will be happy to hear from you.
